Affirmations are intentional positive statements that are expressed
in a simple and clear way. Affirmations are great tools in helping
people defeating negative thoughts, in creating for themselves better
states, in achieving greater attitudes.
Before using the affirmations, it is important to understand why they
have this effect on us: our unconscious perceives everything we give to
him, and just like a sponge, it stores the information, even if this is
good or bad. Therefore, if you give to your unconscious positive
intents, it will help them grow.
If you never tried using them, or if you feel that your results are
not as expected, you have to make them work for you every time you use
them.
Here are a few advices that you should to follow in order to achieve
the best results:
1) Focus on the affirmation
The effect of an affirmation can be magnified through repetition, and
by focusing more on the intent of the affirmation. Just like a mantra,
which is repeated over and over in a strong way, in order for it to
remain clear in your mind and induce a special state of being.
2) Own the terms
Use the words that come straight from your soul, in defining what you
want to achieve. A good advice is to keep in mind only one thing at a
time, to concentrate all your positive affirmations on the same idea,
rather than disjointing your concentration in too many ways.
3) Bring your emotions in the game
You must use your emotions as well as your mind, so concentrate on
speaking sincerely. Just by repeating, some words you will not reach the
aim that you planned to achieve. So be sure that you maintain a
permanent connection between your words and your emotions. Involve, as
many feelings as possible and this will magnify the power of your
statements.
Visual style
If you consider that you absorb the information in a visual way,
apply this: use your imagination and find drawings, posters, paintings,
pictures from magazines, fabrics, textures, etc. that represents what
you wish to have in your life and combine them with the words.
Do not forget to use colorful pictures because the more enthusiastic
you are, the stronger your desire of fulfillment will be. Create a
montage with the pictures and the words you have chosen and hang it
somewhere so you can see it as often as possible. It is possible that
even the writing of the affirmation repeatedly can have great effect on
some people.
Auditory style
If you feel that by hearing or speaking things they seem to have a
sense, it means that your unconscious stores information through sounds.
In this case, you can say an affirmation aloud or you can put it on a
tape and then play it for yourself as many times as you like.
Try finding a song that brings you in a special mood and play it
during the time you say the affirmation. After this, every time you will
hear the chosen song, the affirmation will reappear in your mind.
Kinesthetic style
If you prefer learning new things through practical methods, you can
use this also to increase the power of your affirmations. Walking, for
example, works perfect in this case. You can go to your favorite place,
even if this is a mountain, a lake, a sea, a garden full of flowers, a
forest, feel the nature with all of your senses, reach the highest level
of relaxation and say the affirmation.
If you love dancing, yoga, jogging, walking, or something else that
gives color to your life, do not hesitate to use it in your best
interest. Repeat the affirmations and enjoy yourself, and soon you will
discover the recipe that will give you happiness.
Remember: Every person is unique; you cannot apply the same recipe to
everybody. Each one of us has to experiment different things; in time,
you will find what has an effect on you and you will learn to use
affirmations with great success.
